Coming to New York for its encore appearance, Harlem Hafla is an exciting day of belly dance workshops and performances---with soul! Headlined by Master Performers and Instructors Naimah Loren (MD), Tarik Sultan (NJ) and Camila Karam (DC), Harlem Hafla brings daytime dance workshops and an evening stage performance with an accomplished lineup of dancers, Uptown! The workshops, led by our headliners, take place at National Black Theatre (2031 National Black Theatre Way, New York, NY 10035; 5th Ave). Later that evening, an array of accomplished belly dance performers take the stage, with special performances by our headlining instructors!

CAMILA'S WORKSHOP: THE DANCE BETWEEN ZILS AND HIPS
9:30 to 11:00am
Camila will show you how to enhance your dancing with Zils! This workshop teaches participants how to play the zils and move your hips with grace! Camila will instruct you step-by-step how this musical-movement skill can be developed. A zil practice sheet will be available for each dancer to take home.
**Limited number of zils available to use in this workshop or bring your own set. Sign-up early to guarantee a set of zils to use in this workshop.

Naimah is calling all Divas, Vixens, Sirens, Vamps, and Bombshells ... oh, that doesn’t sound like you? It will after this workshop. First introduced at the Alter Ego event, this fun and empowering workshop was created to pull many out of their comfort zone and bring forth an all new level of self confidence with emphasis on your inner beauty. We will use fun and lively exercises and combinations and take earthy elements of tribal and glamorous aspects of the art of cabaret and blend them musically, theatrically and visually to exude a confident bold sass. This workshop is good for all levels of dancers.

Let Tarik show you how to dance with the authentic sensuality, personality and passion of Egyptian Dance. Egyptian dance is an emotional expression through movement. It's not about trying to do impressive moves, it's about being your authentic self. This workshop will focus on how to execute your dance moves with the passion and personality that brings it to life and makes it fluid, exciting and engaging. Learn how to let go of your shyness and inhibitions and free your spirit.
