Returning to New York for its seventh appearance, Harlem Hafla is an exciting day of belly dance workshops and performances---with soul! Harlem Hafla brings daytime dance workshops and an evening stage performance with an accomplished lineup of dancers, Uptown!
Our headliner this year is Master Performer and Instructor, Naimah! She is an award-winning belly dancer from Baltimore, MD and director of the award-winning troupe, Amandari. With a background in ballet, modern, hip hop and African dance, her style is best described as eclectic and eccentric. She teaches online classes on a multitude of topics pertaining to dance including history, culture and props. She is also a proud brand ambassador for D Webb Designs. Naimah has produced many shows in Maryland and is currently the co-producer of Maryland's largest belly dance festival, "Art of the Belly" in Ocean City, MD.
The workshops, led by our headliner, take place at Riverbank State Park (679 Riverside Dr, New York, NY 10031). Later that evening, an array of accomplished belly dance performers take the stage, with a special performance by our headlining instructor, Baltimore's own Naimah Lauren!
Our workshops are priced at $35 for Early Birds, and will go up to $40 after April 1. Early Bird discounts will show at checkout.
Please note that all tickets are will-call and we do not give out paper tickets. Also, we do not give out refunds after the event if you cannot make the event.

- 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.: Sound Check and Photos for Dancers Only.
- 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.: Showtime!

ELEGANT, EYE-CATCHING EGYPTIAN STYLIZATIONS

This workshop will focus on graceful technique that will include an array of elegant Egyptian style movement, and varied facial expressions for effective stage presence, and an impactful performance overall.

The drum solo is the closing statement of an act. Let's put some bold emphasis on that statement. In this class, we will focus on making a drum solo sassy, fun, lively, and engaging to leave your audience wanting more. Expect to bring high energy and charisma.
